According to experts, marijuana use may become problematic,
but only rarely leads to addiction or dependence.
Among adults, studies have shown that marijuana, just as many other everyday substances,
may produce dependence among 9% of users; similarly, alcohol use produces dependence in approximately 15% of users and nicotine in 21% of users.
The two substances that American consumers enjoy the most and seem to have the most problems withdrawing from are: sugar and caffeine.
If you are a well-adjusted adult,
it’s unlikely that the occasional use of marijuana will result in any dependence issues.
